What Is The Internet of Things (IoT)?
The Oxford dictionary defines it as "a proposed development of the Internet in which everyday objects have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data". While a good working definition, the IoT has evolved into a lot more. A quick search will turn up a host of devices, add-on shields, and sensors for the maker to put together a project. Additionally it provides for a growing host of web-based and cloud-based services working in harmony to enable a community with endless possibilities and solutions for a wide range of problems and challenges.
That's a great question, and perhaps one that is still being defined. Like most hobbyists, we started out with an Arduino, a LED, and a sketch that made it blink every 500 milliseconds. Once hooked in this space, we evolved into developing basic custom solutions for customer scenarios. But that does not mean that there is not any time to play.
